Overview of Laboratory Medicine
According to conservative statistics, by the end of 2005 there have been more than 30,000 general and special hospitals in China and the total number of various medical laboratories may have been over 50,000 if including civil and community hospitals, as well as medical scientific research units in our country.
In recent years, with the fast speed of basic medicine, clinical medicine and bio-engineering, clinic examination has been developing to high technology and has formed the subject of Laboratory Medicine, including Laboratory Diagnostics which is mainly concerning Clinical Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Molecular Biology and so on.
From the entry of 21 century, along with the swift and violent development of science and technology, the subjects of Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Analytical Chemistry, Biophysics and the technologies of electronics, computer, precise analysis have infiltrated into the medicine field; meanwhile, many advanced techniques like laser, chromatographic analysis, fluorescence analysis, mass spectrometry, flow cytogenesis, and DNA PCR have been applied to the clinic examination. All kinds of new laboratory medicine technologies and instruments are coming forth, whose automation is as high as 80% above, progressing to automatic and integrative laboratory. Thanks to the great success of international cooperation on the Human Genome Project, presently Molecular Biology is developing much further and profound in theory, technique, appliance and other areas.
Therefore, it is necessary and important to hold laboratory medicine academic communication and exhibit the international latest laboratory technology and instrument for the Chinese researchers who are working on it.
Conference
China International Conference on Medical Laboratory Technology & Laboratory Diagnostics plans to hold for 3 days, which is sponsored by China Medical Education Society Diagnostics Branch and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School and supported by Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine and China Medical Doctor Association of Laboratory Medicine. And Annual Meeting of World Federation of Hemophilia 2007 will be held in the same period as a concurrent event. Many domestic and foreign specialists and scholars will be invited to deliver the speeches on hot issues of Laboratory Medicine and introduce the latest development in the fields of Medical Laboratory and Laboratory Diagnostics.
The organizing committee welcomes the submission of original theses for consideration and inclusion for poster exhibition. The certificates will be presented to all the theses accepted by the conference.
