Bioon: We would like to first have you introduce your company.
Dr. Ruediger Herrmann: Sure, it's a pleasure. Mayer Brown is one of the top ten law firms in the world with one thousand eight hundred attorneys, out of which roughly three hundred are based here in Asia. Since the merger with JSM, which happened in January this year, we have substantially raised our presence in Asia. Mayer Brown is a full service law firm, which means, we do all sorts of legal services, corporate, intellectual property, financial services, as well as real state. We also focus our services on a number of industry sectors, and one of the most important to us is biotech, life science and pharma. I happen to be the co-chair of that practice, so I oversee whatever we do on an international basis, which is what brought us here today.
Bioon: Some of your main clients are in the biotech field, can you please specify who are some of your major clients?
Dr. Ruediger Herrmann: They are all major clients and they are all very important. Now, our clients all really come from all geographical areas and they do all come from different sciences. We do represent clients like big biotech or pharmaceutical companies, but we also do quite a bit of work for start-up companies in the biotech segment, everything which is spun out from universities or from larger pharmaceutical companies. From student start-ups in new technologies to companies beginning new product lines, really whatever and everything in between. What we do is try to be helpful to our clients through assisting building their entire business from day one, in terms of utilizing single international patent filing system in their development phase, introducing venture capital or private equity in their expansion phase and then making further growth through catching single opportunities, really whatever it takes to make them successful.
