Assay principle

• The firefly luciferase gene (luc) is an excellent reporter gene in both eukaryotic and bacterial expression systems.
• The characteristic flash light of the firefly luciferase reaction can be stabilized and optimised for maximum emitted light.
• The amount of luciferase is estimated by light output.

• No background in bacterial or mammalian cells
• Quick and easy, just add reagents and measure light output in a luminometer
• Very sensitive assay (detection of 10-19 moles)
• Stable luminescence, suitable for manual or fully automatic luminometers and HTS
• Suitable for both in vivo & in vitro measurements
