SECTIONS
8µm paraffin wax sections
SOLUTIONS
STAINING SOLUTION
- Cresyl Fast Violet-1g
- Distilled water-100cm3
- Acetic acid-0.25cm3
METHOD
- Take sections to water
- Stain in cresyl fast violet solution for 20-30 minutes
- Rinse in distilled water
- Leave in 96% alcohol until most of the stain has been removed
- Clear in xylene. Mount sections in DPX
RESULTS
- Nissl substance-Purple/dark blue
- Neurones and cell nuclei - Purple/blue
