Signaling network and its regulation mechanism in inflammatory response

In order to understand the physiological and pathological mechanisms in inflammatory response, we are trying to incorporate systematic and large-scale analysis of protein-protein interactions with protein functional analysis and to establish the protein molecular networks, which are involved in the signaling process of inflammatory responses. The analysis of signal proteins and their signal transduction networks will also provide target molecules for developing pharmaceuticals against inflammatory. The aims of our current project are the following: (1) understanding their cellular and pathological development process and the protein signaling network in 3 typical inflammatory diseases: atherosclerosis-a chronic inflammatory disease, systemic inflammatory response syndrome-an acute inflammatory response and rheumatoid arthritis-an autoimmune disease; (2) using systematic and large-scale analysis and integration of protein-protein interactions to establish the signaling networks involved in inflammatory diseases; (3) comparing the roles of signal transduction pathways in different inflammatory diseases or in different stages of the same inflammatory disease; (4) identifying new signal molecules and new cellular functions of known signal molecules for potential drug-target and drug-screening analysis.
