Basic Research on Pathogenesis, Prevention and Therapy of Cardiac and Cerebral Vascular Diseases

This project is based on the characteristic high morbidity of cardiovascular diseases in our country, thus hypertension and its complication (stroke, atherosclerosis, heart failure etc) are put on the main point of the project, and take and through inspecting the cardiovascular bioactive substances to find out6 the connections between genes at one end and physiological functions at the other end; and also based on the interrelated three steps of etiology, pathogenetic mechanism, and preventive and therapeutic bases to investigates the following important scientific problems; (1) The mechanisms of internal and external environmental pathogenetic factors inducing cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases; to provide theoretical basis for early prevention. (2) Research on the cytology and molecular biology of cardiovascular remodeling; to explore the pathogenetic mechanism of cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases. (3) Basic researches in new technology and new methods for prevention and therapeutics of cardiac and cerebral vascular disease; to provide new thinking and new methods in diagnosis, prevention and therapy for cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases. We expected that when this project is put into effect, a new theory of the regulatory and integrative mechanism of the bioactive substances in the pathogenesis of cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases can be established, and fundamental research system with Chinese characteristics in cardiovascular diseases is formed, thus to obtain new break through in the study of common pathogenetic mechanisms and theoretical research of prevention and therapy of cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases
