神经干细胞是神经系统中能够增殖分化成神经元和胶质细胞的特定原始神经细胞,它具有高度的自我更新能力、低免疫源性、多潜能分化、迁移功能及良好的组织融合性等特性。目前已在哺乳动物的中枢神经系统多个部位发现并分离出神经干细胞用于动物模型治疗,如作为基因或药物治疗载体、脑瘤等,细胞替代治疗以替代某些因细胞死亡或凋亡引起的疾病,如帕金森氏病、Huntington病、脑卒中后、脱髓鞘病及脑、脊髓损伤等,为今后临床治疗神经系统疾病提供实验依据。
Neural stem cells are often defined as cells which can generate both neurons and glia. These stem cells have the capacity to self-renew, multipotency and low immunogenic properties, as well as may migrate and integrate with the host tissue. Neural stem cells have recently been identified and isolated from different regions of the mammalian central nervous system. These stem cells have been used as vectors for gene therapy and cell replacement therapy for the study and management of neurological disorders such as brain tumor, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington disease, stroke and brain injury, etc. These works have significance to the treatment of nervous system diseases clinically.
