In the current issue of
British Journal of Cancer, Meert and colleagues have analysed the results of 30 studies, published between 1990 and 2002, that evaluated lung cancer, the association between c-erbB-2 status and survival, and the measure of c-erbB-2 expression in the tumour. After aggregation of the available survival results of lung cancer patients according to the tumour expression of c-erbB-2, the presence of this receptor appears to be a potential prognostic factor for worse survival in non-small cell lung cancer.
